The Murdered Plot
Most bad Star Trek is pretty predictable, with messages that don’t work or plots that are silly. And that applies to the novels too – most of them are pretty middle-of-the-road, some are very good, and some… suck. Hardcore.
But The Murdered Sun is a special kind of suck suck sucktastic suckitude. It has everything that makes a bad Star Trek novel AND more – it has a Big Message, predictable Trek tropes, a plot that takes forever to do anything, pseudo-mysticism that ends up being insulting to anyone with spiritual beliefs, and a writing style like an overripe peach about to dissolve into goop.
